CAMPAIGN FOR CHANGE

Integrated disAbility Action Inc (IdA) actively campaigns for positive change on identified issues of interest, which may be specific to an individual and/or systemic in nature. Feedback obtained from our members enables IdA to address issues affecting people with disability, their carers and families. ‘Campaign for Change’ details who we are talking to, what we are doing and what is happening.

Transport is a long standing issue that IdA has been addressing for many years. Again it has been brought to the forefront due to the number of overwhelming responses in a recent survey. In response IdA recently wrote to the Acting Executive Director of the Northern Territory Government Department of Transport addressing the many issues people with disability are forced to live with daily in regards to the Multi Purpose Taxis (MPT).

An IdA representative was also asked to present at the Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s Commercial Passenger Vehicles inaugural Strategic Planning Day. A recommendation of this presentation was to have a small committee that could work to develop viable solutions to the many issues raised. IdA is pleased that the NT government has acted on this recommendation and implemented a MPT Services Working Group. The group met for the first time in late April 2011.
